Schedule Overview, Meet Ups, and more!

Our countdown to Colorado continues! Can you feel the excitement building?!

Speaking of building, our conference planning team has been busily beavering away at the programming. When was the last time you checked out the conference schedule

Our general daily flow is

  • Main sessions in the mornings and evenings

  • Workshops led by our amazing guest speakers after the morning sessions

  • Free time in the afternoons

  • And a day off for more fun, excursions, rest and adventure on Monday the 20th for those who are staying for all 5 days

You can find it all on the conference website, or right in the Whova app. That’s the place to see live updates on things you might want to jump in on.

What things, you ask?

It’s time to let you in on a big vision we have for this Novo gathering. We’re calling it

“Something is happening all of the time.”

(Does Bill Randall have a trademark on that yet?!)

Here’s the idea: Yes, we’ve got big sessions and workshops planned out. . . but we want to encourage YOU (yes, you!) to arrange meet-ups of all shapes and sizes with the people you love or the topics you care about.

There are two ways to go about this right there in the Whova app right now.

Meet ups

“Meet ups” are ways to gather a group of people around a single topic or focus.

On the Community tab in the app, you’ll see “Meet-ups & Virtual Meets.” When you select that, you’ll see the option to “Suggest a Meet-up” on the bottom of your screen.

You can put the word out about a knitting circle, a craft-beer outing, a family-friendly hike or a ministry discussion on a subject you hold near and dear to your heart. Right there in the app you set a place and time, put the word out, and let people vote with their feet. There’s some great options in there already, go check them out!

  • Want to round up all of the fountain-pen enthusiasts in the Novo family and compare ink-swatches? Go for it!

  • Want to plan a massive tug-o-war match-up with all the Apostles and Prophets on one side and all the Evangelists, Shepherds and Teachers on another? Have fun with that!

  • Want to hold a forum on the impact of AI on the next generation of Novo workers? The sky is the limit!

This is the concept behind “There’s something happening all of the time.” The permission meter is set about as high as the Breckenridge altitude. It’s up to you (and you, and you too) to make it happen.

Social Groups

The second place to look at in the Whova app is called “Social Groups”  (under the Community” tab). This is a place to connect with like-minded people—not like a “meet-up” with a time and place—but more like a community board with people who share a common interest.

It’s a place to connect, share and discuss, but not specifically tied to an event. I guess you could say that, with Social Groups, if there isn’t SOMETHING happening ALL of the time, there’s at least SOMEONE talking about it in the Whova app.

So you’ve got the schedule, and you’ve got all those amazing opportunities to connect with each other throughout the event. Now, have at it. Just remember to stay hydrated, get some rest, and don’t forget to eat!

See you next time for more . . .
