Let's take this to new heights!
Sometimes we need to check our altitude! (or so I’m told)
In less than 60 days we will ascend up the mountain side, high into the Rockies. For some, this will mean going from elevation-zero to almost 2 miles up…9600 feet of altitude, to be exact-ish.
Why is this the lead piece of info? Great question; glad you asked.
When we were looking at, and praying about various sites for this conference, a number of factors pointed to this being THE location. You’ve possibly heard or read some of those reasons in previous communications , and we’ll be sharing more as we go along. For now, know that the conference team believes that this spot in Breckenridge checks all the boxes! However, the elevation IS a real factor…we’re taking it seriously, and we want you to as well.
High elevation can bring on what is often called “Altitude Sickness”. As with most of our conferences, we’ll be prepared with medical professionals onsite, but nobody wants it to come to that. There are ways to get ready before you go and things to do while in Breckenridge.
Here are a couple of tips, and a couple links to check out to learn more.
1. HYDRATE - Try to drink twice the amount of water here as you would at home. It also helps to drink beverages with electrolytes to replenish lost minerals and vitamins. We’ve also been told that it helps to increase your water intake starting at least 2 weeks ahead of time.
2. TAKE IT EASY AT FIRST - Experts recommend taking it easy at least the first day at higher altitudes. We still recommend, if possible, to do a slower acclimation by arriving in Denver a day early, staying at the lower elevation there for a night, then continuing up the mountain. Or adjusting your conference registration to arrive a day early. We’ll be there, wanna join us?
3. OXYGEN - All throughout Breckenridge there are Oxygen Bars. While a team of us were in town we did a little research and found it consistent that visiting one on day 1 helps you get more sleep that first night, and therefore adjust quicker. We are working out a deal with one of the local places to offer Novo guests a discount (to what is already a reasonable price). Stay tuned for more details on that.

We’re looking forward to being with you all, and to making new memories together! Let’s make this the best conference Beaver Run has ever seen! No pressure though. ;)
P.S. If you haven’t selected your conference lunches yet, there’s no time better than right after you read this.
